Upcoming Open Days

5th July & 20th September 2026

A BOLD BEGINNING
New Ground was conceived by a group of determined, spirited, and creative women in the 1990’s Refusing to accept conventional stereotypes of female ageing, they took matters into their own hands, established their own supportive community, and led by example. Their boldness soon attracted other like-minded women, fostering an exceptional community that today stands out for its vision and camaraderie.

REFLECTIONS ON NEW GROUND
‘Spending time with the women of New Ground encouraged me to examine my own future. It highlighted the significance of thinking in advance about the kind of community and autonomy we aspire to have as we age. Although it may be easy to view ageing as something far off, the reality is that the life we desire in our later years must be shaped long before we reach that stage.’
Louisa Rechenbach -  Documentary Filmmaker

The women at New Ground are pioneers. Spending time with them, and witnessing their friendship, leaves me certain that the future of women-led community is in safe hands, if we can carry even a fraction of their will, energy, and tenacity. Their stories are rich, layered, and deeply varied.’
Megha Mohan – author of Herlands – BBC global gender and identity correspondent
